Back to the old!

It's been a reaaalllly long time since I blogged here......or anywhere else for that matter, but I was thinking about this blog earlier today and I realised I really missed it.  I started blogging here away back in 2008 - My goodness has it been that long?!   And I also realised that I've never "made a change".  Not a permanent change that is.  I have been up and down with my weight during this whole time - in fact for the last 8/9 years!  The  lowest I got in that time was last year when I got down to 165lbs for my wedding in Orlando.  And do you know what?  Even though, I wasn't at my goal weight, I realised I feel really good when I stick to my goals, take care of myself and make time for fitness.  I look back at my photos from last year, and I think "Damn, girl!  You did good!  You look good, and more importantly, you FEEL good!"   So, why on earth did I gradually give all that up again.  I realise more and more that I really am crazy!!

So, in the spirit of getting back into health and getting fit again, I figured I would rekindle my old blog. I won't promise I will write every day, or even weekly, but I hope I can use it to help me back on the path to health, wellness and feeling fit!  AND actually Make a Change this Time!  =)

I actually joined a new gym a couple of months ago - and I hope I will be able to share it with you in future posts!  Until then, here are just a few photos!  As you can see (or not see!) there are no treadmills or cardio equipment like that (except for 2 spin bikes!).  Big tyres,  ropes, sledgehammers and prowlers are all you need to get your heart rate up!  Ha ha!!

Happy Monday everyone!!

Couch to 5k update

Hey guys!  Thanks for your comments about my wee nephew!  Isn't he the cutest?! =)

Anyway - I'm so proud to say I made it to the gym again today for another session of Couch to 5k.
This was Week 1 - Day 2!  And it felt TOUGH!  It seemed tougher than Sunday's session and it was exactly the same workout.  Maybe cos I've been at work all day, maybe a bit more tired?  Dunno, but 10 minutes in I really wanted to quit.  I was sweating buckets after just my first bout of running.  But I persevered and after 20 minutes, I started to feel good.  I liked that sweat was dripping from my forehead!  Ha ha!

Todays workout:

Treadmill - 35 minutes - Incline 2% - Couch to 5k - Week 1 - Day 2

Calories Burned:   400

I have been eating my fruits and veggies (At least 5 servings a day), drinking my water (and some diet soda - I really need to give it up (again!)) and trying to get to bed earlier.  I have also been out during my lunch break for a quick half hour of brisk walking!  I haven't done so well in getting up early to get to work though - I just feel exhausted in the morning.  I even bought one of those lamps that wake you up with gradual light and birdsong! The birds drive me crazy in the morning! lol  - I think it's helping me a bit in getting up in the morning since its like hazy morning sunshine in my bedroom in the morning!  Here is the wake up light  I bought:-

It's still a struggle for me to get up in the morning but this has helped me tremendously!  I would certainly recommend it if you find it difficult to get up in the morning.  The light comes on gradually and begins about half an hour before your actual alarm time is set.  But don't have the sound too loud - the birds will sound like they are in your room!  lol

Is anyone else doing the Couch to 5k?  How are you finding it??

Three time's the charm!

This is my third day blogging in a row! Yay! Go me! And not only that, but I went to the gym todaaaay! I had a personal training session and it was fabulous. I didn't mean to sound so down about my trainer in my recent post. I suppose I was looking for my "downfall" to be someone else's fault, when in fact it is I that has control over ME. I know ME better than anyone and I suppose I was trying to make it sound like it was the trainer's fault I came off my diet. She told me to eat HEALTHY, and not obsess about every little thing I put in my mouth. But I used that as an excuse to go absolutely nuts! I spoke with her about it today and she was very supportive. She is actually going back to college to study Psychology and said to come back and see her in 4 years when she will be able to tell me what's wrong with me! lol

Aaanyway! I had a great training session and I felt so much better - isn't that an amazing thing??? Exercise makes you feel gooood! And I think it helps when you look in the mirror - you somehow see a smaller you. Well I do anyway!

Tomorrow my diet will be CLEAN! I had a few slips today, but I caught myself in time and I have just thrown a pile of CRAP in the bin! No more of that stuff is going in this body! I have had a headache almost everyday since I came off my healthy eating regime. I know how to feel good and it's only a few healthy meals away!

I really need to start setting some mini goals again to help give me focus. I have 5 and a half weeks before my vacation!! Yikes! I know I won't get to my final goal weight by then, but I know that exercising and eating right will help me feel more confident and good about myself and I suppose that's the main thing at the moment!

So - here are my mini goals for tomorrow!

1. Drink at least 4 bottles of water (500ml size!) so that will be 2 litres!
2. Wear my Fit Flops around the house and when walking the dog.
3. Eat at least 3 servings of fruit and veg.
4. NO DIET SODA!!
5. Exercise for at least 30 minutes (probably running on the treadmill!)
6. Take some photographs :-)
7. Get up tomorrow at 7.30am (I am flexi time and lately I have been getting up waaay too late - about 9am!! - I am a lazy biotch!)
8. Go grocery shopping for healthy food!
9. Watch "Charmed" - this one will be easy!
10. Get to bed earlier!!
11. Track what I am eating.

Amelia, thanks for your comment! I know exactly how you feel. I don't if there is any liberation from the insanity! I suppose it's down to choice - we are choosing what we are eating - even though we know it's wrong! Maybe making more good choices than bad ones will eventually beat it?! - good for you for throwing the ice cream away - it's hard to do but you feel a million times better for having done it! I hope I find the answer to it one day - if I do I'll let you know!! :-)

Christina - the poppy seed dressing is amazing!! Sooo good!! You will not be disappointed!

Ok, I think I better get to bed if I have to be up for half 7!! Ha ha!!

Goodnight :-D

It's a Thrill!!

Last night we went to see Thriller, Live! OMG! What an amazing show this was. The dancing, the singing, everything about this was just awesome! I wasn’t sure what to expect, I don’t really like reading reviews about shows or movies, because I want to be surprised when I see them! I only took one photo while we were there because we were up dancing most of the time! If you get a chance to see this show, I wouldn’t hesitate in getting a ticket!!

I wore these fabulous shoes – which I got for a steal at a second hand store! They only cost £6.99! Brand new, Kenneth Cole! What a bargain! And they were fairly comfortable – but after about 2 hours of dancing, standing and walking to and from the car, I had to take them off! Luckily, I brought a spare pair of heels with me that only about a one a half inch heel!
So I weighed in this morning and my weight is back up to 172.4. No surprise there at all – I know I can lose it again – and healthy food tastes so much better anyways, I don’t know why I have been eating KFC! I used to hate the stuff. Maybe they put an addictive substance into their 11 spices! Ha ha!

I had this for breakfast this morning, and then the rest as a snack later on this afternoon. It was so yummy. Only 5 points for the whole box (2 servings!lol)

I also hit the gym tonight. My 3rd time this week! Go me! I did just over an hour. I have completed Week 1 of the Couch to 5K program. I did a 10 minutes on the X-trainer, 2 sets of squats on the Power Plate, some incline bench presses, incline flyes. I burned over 400 calories! And I feel amazing! I did just over 3km on the treadmill – in fact at one point I thought I was going to pass out because I was running so fast (I’m only 5’2, short legs and going 12km/h is fast for me! lol

I booked tickets earlier to go see Phil Vassar! Has anyone heard of him?? Yet another country singer coming to Glasgow!! Come on Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood – GLASGOW is where it’s at!!! Lol

PS. Before I go, here is a shot of Toby Keith, when we went to see him last month. I totally forgot to do this when I blogged about him.
Going to watch the Hills, then off to bed! Hope you have all had a fabulous weekend!!!
